An entrepreneurial stand-up show where even the wildest ideas take flight

Kaustinen region, this wonderful place in Central Ostrobothnia, is the perfect place for entrepreneurship, whether it’s about repairing tractors, food production, or some wild tech idea that not even the nearest gas station has heard of.

In this region, new businesses pop up like mushrooms after the rain – from the care sector to the gaming industry and everything in between. And Kaustinen’s business services are always ready to jump on board. Our business services are a bit like an entrepreneur’s own cheerleading team – we may not look like it, but we sure know how to cheer and leap for an idea, and sometimes, we even give advice.

In the early 2020s, Tervatynnyri came to Central Ostrobothnia, the region’s very own pitch competition, which is like an entrepreneurial folk music festival – doors wide open for all new entrepreneurs and even the wildest ideas. The idea is that you don’t have to be perfect, as long as you play and dance along.

Tervatynnyri has given the Kaustinen region a new and much-needed tool to promote new business development. It’s important for the region that Tervatynnyri is open to everyone who has a sensible, or maybe a not-so-sensible, or preferably, an unfinished business idea – no matter what it is. So, it doesn’t matter if the idea comes from a “traditional” field or if it’s something so futuristic that even the business developer or consultant is left speechless, which admittedly happens relatively rarely. Well, it hasn’t happened yet, but it could… The most important thing is that the idea brings something new to the market, not just to the market in Veteli, and makes an impression on both the competition’s jury and potential customers.

The cash prizes in the competition are definitely appealing when considering participation, but the best part of Tervatynnyri is the learning. In this competition, you get to pitch your business idea for the first time to a jury and a large, or at least moderately sized, audience. The competition is a bit like a short stand-up gig, except the punchline is the business idea. You might blush a little during the presentation, but when things go well, you get more than just laughs. You find new friends, partners, mentors, or even an investor who believes in your idea as passionately as you do!

So, Tervatynnyri is not just a competition, it’s like a road trip of life – it doesn’t matter where you end up, everything that happens along the way is just as important. And while Central Ostrobothnia, and especially the aforementioned entrepreneurial wonderland Kaustinen region, is already brimming with entrepreneurial spirit, Tervatynnyri adds a fresh twist, a bit like habanero on a pizza. In a short time, Tervatynnyri has become an essential part of the region’s business services.

So if you, there on the couch or in the mushroom forest or wherever you are, have a business idea – or even just a vague thought of one – welcome to Tervatynnyri!
